Professor Mirosław Ławrynowicz was born on June 16th in 1947 in
Warsaw to a family with music traditions, Initially taught by Janina
Jarzębska and Zenon Kubis. 1975 honours graduate of the State College
of Music in Warsaw (professor Zenon Brzewski's violin class); following
a degree in musicology, he also graduated from the History Department
of the Warsaw University. Continued violin studies under professors
Jean Fournier (France) and Wolfgang Marschner (Germany).
Winner of the 1973 International Contemporary Music Competition in
Rotterdam (string quartet category); of the 1974 International Music
Competition in Munich (violin-piano duos category, with his wife,
Krystyna Makowską-Ławrynowicz); of the 1980 International Young Musicians'
Podium in Paris; and of the 1992 International Music Competition
in Belgrade (with the Jeunesses Musicales string orchestra he conducted).
Solo, chamber music and conductor performances in Poland and abroad,
i.e. in Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Spain,
the Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Cuba, Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland,
Sweden, Italy, and the United States (at the Carnegie Hall, among
others).
Participant of numerous archive recordings in Finland, the Netherlands,
Germany, and France, as well as for Channel Two of the Polish Radio.
His achievements include LP recordings in Poland and Spain.
Engaged in publishing for many years, editing works by Polish composers
for publication including Henryk Wieniawski and Karol Lipiński; Programme
Council member for the Polish Music Publishers in Cracow; member
of the Publishing Collegiate Council at the Artistic Education Centre.
Violin class professor at the Frederic Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw,
where he had taught since 1975; headmaster of the Zenon Brzewski
Secondary Music School in Warsaw - an elite school for particularly
talented students.
Chairman of the Polish Unit of the European String Teachers Association.
Juror at numerous national and international music competitions.
Held and headed many music courses in Poland an9 abroad. Since 1993
artistic and academic director of the Zenon Brzewski International
Music Courses in Łańcut, violin class professor and tutor of courses
in methodology for teachers. More-over, since 1993 artistic director
of Music Workshops in Zakopane for the most talented scholars of
the National Fund for Children. Head of the violin class at the 12th
International Music Course in Kloster-Schontal, Germany (1997), at
the Music Course for Japanese students at the Music Academy in Warsaw
(1997), and at a master class course for Montclair University students
in New Jersey (1997). Co-organiser and professor of the Stringtime
event in Goch, Germany.
During his years of teaching he educated approximately 50 M.A. violinist
graduates, including Doctor Andrzej Gębski, as well as Dariusz Smolarski
and Janusz Wawrowski.
His students and pupils were presented with numerous prizes and awards
in national and international competitions.
For his artistic and pedagogical activities, professor Mirosław Ławrynowicz
was awarded the National Education Committee Medal, the Golden Cross
of Merit, a Diploma of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for achievements
in promoting Polish culture abroad, a Diploma of the Minister of
Culture for many years of commitment to the mission of supporting
bonds in the international community of talented young people, and
the Merit for Polish Culture distinction.
