Began taking piano classes at the age of six with professor Hanna Lachert.
Graduated with honours from the Karol Szymanowski Secondary Music School
in Warsaw in Piotr Lacherfs piano class. 1971 summa cum laude graduate of
the State College of Music in Warsaw (professor Maria Wiłkomirska's class).
During the years 1971-1973 attended post-graduate studies at the Viennese
Hochschule für Music und darstellende Kunst. Participant of international
piano and chamber music courses in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
Winner of international piano competitions, including the Robert Schumann
Competition in Zwickau (l969), the Viennese Festwochen (1972) and Ludwig
van Beethoven Competition (1973), and the Bayerischer Rundfunk in Munich
(1974). Frequent participant in national and international competitions,
where young instrumentalists she accompanied have always been awarded high-ranking
prizes. Gave recitals, symphonic concerts and chamber music performances
in Germany, Austria, France, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, the Netherlands,
Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, England, Turkey, Italy, USA (Carnegie
Hall), and Cuba. Took part in many music festivals, including the George
Sand event in France, and the Steirischer Herbst in Austria.
As a soloist and chamber music performer she made several dozen LP recordings,
including the Bayerischer Rundfunk und Fernsehen, Österreichischer Rundfunk,
Cuban Radio, Polish Radio and TV, as well as a number of CDs, with obvious
preferences for Polish composers.
Since 1973 working at the Frederic Chopin Music Academy, initially in Maria
Wiłkomirska's piano class, then at the Piano Chamber Music Section under
Jerzy Marchwiński. A professor since 1992; deputy rector of the Warsaw Music
Academy since 1999. Frequent reviewer and artistic monitor at 1st and 2nd
level qualification exams at Music Academies in Łódź, Poznań, Katowice, and
Warsaw.
Since 1993 co-organiser of the International Music Courses in Łańcut, an
active participant in classes and concerts alike. Awarded the National Education
Committee Medal, the Gold Cross of Merit a Diploma of the Minister of Culture
for achievements in promoting Polish violin playing in the world, the Merit
for Polish Culture distinction and honorary citizenship of the Town of Łańcut
in 2002.
Frequent juror at piano and chamber music competitions in Poland and abroad.
Since 1995 an artistic education consultant.
